WBC MENS SUNDAY MORNING SCROUNGERS
THERE WERE 37 MEN plus HAMBONE TURNED UP FOR SCROUNGERS THIS MORNING IN WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE A CRACKER OF A DAY. As I wasn’t there I can only relay the results I got when I rang the club and got the guys who still had a leave pass and were able to stay and enjoy the rest of the day after a hard day at the office. Apparently hambone looked resplendent with his new St.Kilda bowls(I wouldn’t throw away my old bowls IF I WAS HIM was the consensus of the playing group.
The fella with the highest score on each rink progressed to the next level. It must be a new innovation!!
The finalists were(drum roll please)
Dave Triffitt
Kevin bone
Ian Hamilton
The highest score was
Brian clausen-49
The naba went to
Nathan(son of ian)perritt
The winner was
Kevin bone
The runner up was
Ian Hamilton
Good to have Charlie back to sort out the mob that tends to get out of hand when he is away. Thanks to les and ian and every one else who helped in his absence.
At the conclusions of the days play ,tired as they were it was decided to have a game of corner tooo corner with 6 of the best players .each participant put in $2000 (or was that $2)for the privilege of playing, winner take all.
The winner was
Merv stribbley
The runner up was
Dave triffitt
Apparently (unconfirmed at time of writing) silver failed to trouble the scorers. We will see you all next week.

BBL SPECIAL MEETING COURTESY J.C.
rickshaw | 27 June, 2008 15:15
BBL Special Meeting
Held at the Geraldton Bowling Club 26/6/08
The meeting was opened by the chairman but before the meeting had a chance to get under way.
The Wonthella Bowling Club queries the validity of calling this meeting as we consider that it is unconstitutional under the “ Unified Bowling Constitution of the Batavia Bowling League and its bylaws of June 2007 “
The reason we consider that it does not meet the guidelines is as follows:
1. Letter of complaint from Geraldton Bowling Club does not state which rule or bylaw of the constitution this complaint relates to.
2. Letter of complaint from the Geraldton Bowling Club was lodged outside the time constraint as set out in rule 11 “B” of the constitution. (The letter was dated 6th June, the event was the 2nd June – the letter written outside the ruling of 48 hours.3. The event quoted in the letter does not impinge on men’s by-law 4.3, as this event was a draw mixed fours.4. Although the meeting should have been closed a this point the chairman took a movement of motion from Northampton and seconded by Denison, that stated
5. While a carnival by any club is being held no affiliated club can hold a competition of any sort during that carnival.
The League is to be informed of any of any changes of club selections of officers from their AGM.
Club was advised to start advertising coaching week at Northampton on August the 16th & 17th.
Wonthella to hold this years Round Robin January from Friday the 9th to Sunday 11th.
The league is looking for sponsors for this event if any one has any ideas please get in touch with John Lewis of the BBL we need about $500.00 to run the event.
Wonthella bought up the allocation of points for open events opposed to restricted events for the Bowler of the year.
It was moved to take back to the club to look at and bring it up at the next meeting in September.
In the mean time there is a copy of points allocations on the league board.
John Craig
Delicate report.

Membership No’s Ladies full – 130, Men full – 209, Social ( MSL ) 57, Total 396.WBC, held their AGM on Sunday morning. It was disappointing that only sixty people turned up. All executive positions were filled with the exception of the chairperson of the ground committee.
Two outstanding members of the WBC received Life memberships. They were Elaine Beard, who has done a magnificent job in various positions for the club in the past 20 years, and Alan Hagg, the other to receive a Life membership for his outstanding contribution to the club. All Alans work on the match committee over a good many years, plus his endless hours of voluntary work on the grounds and surrounds. A very popular decision indeed.
There were three other awards presented, one in recognition of twelve long years of looking after the beautiful rose garden on the east side of the bowling green for Les Rowe who has decided to retire.Well done Les all the members wish you well and thank you for the splendid job you have done after taking the job on from Bob Podmore, 12 years ago.You should be very proud of your efforts.
The other two awards were for their outstanding work running the Friday Mixed Scroungers
Doris Sasche and David Gibb, well done to the two of you, you have done a marvellous job week in and week out for all the past years, congratulations.
