AGGREGATE RUNNER UP-EDDIE DODD

A big THANK YOUto Charles Murphy for all his hard work and to Les Rowe for giving him a hand and to all the guys who helped with the marking etc. Thanks to Gazza,Jean and Kerry for lunch. They tell me it was allright.Les Rowe was pretty happy with the day as he took home every trophy that was available as they all had his name on them.See you all next year.

  FINAL CORNER TO CORNER  RESULTS

The final results for the last corner to corner which was taken out of the capable hands of Syd Powder (in a bloodless coup)by Juddy.Ther was still a lot of interest in the game as word had spread around the town that it was on again. There was standing room only for the thousands(no one actually counted them but there were many)to watch the gladiators do battle.

THE EVENTUAL WINNER WAS JUDD

(It came to no surprise to Syd as he usually won every time he organised it,so he was just keeping the tradition alive). He scored 73 points which isn’t to bad as there are only 24 points available for the whole game

The runner up was James who didn’t actually score as after Judd took all the points there wasn’t any left for anyone else, but if there had of been james would have come second.

I think Juddy collected a six figure amount and James got what was left over($2.50)

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE

CORNER TOO CORNER 090809

Again interest was great and I heard we had phone calls from as far away as Tweed Heads asking if they were able to get a game in the increasingly popular highlight of the sporting week. I have heard a couple of Dockers asked Harv’s if they could be excused from playing Port Adelaide just so they could be considered for a game. But alas Syd said it was not to be. If the game gets any bigger we are going to ask Nashy if he could make the corners bigger so as to accommodate the 1100 hundred players that want a game.Syd again had to disappoint so many that wanted a game but couldn’t be accommodated. In a very close fought game the winner was the same fella that got the NABA in the mornings game, non other than JUDD McGaw with the R/U being (I know this will surprise everyone except those who have watched him keep score before)Syd Powder.

THIS GAME JUST GETS BIGGER EVERY WEEK WITH A CAST OF THOUSANDS LINING UP EACH WEEK FOR A GAME.I THINK THE CHANCES OF WINNING LOTTO ARE BETTER THAN GETTING A BERTH IN THE EVENT OF THE WEEK.

I THINK THE STEWARDS WERE CALLED FOR AS THE SCORE KEEPER WAS THE EVENTUAL WINNER AFTER SOME CONSTERNATION.SYD (I WILL KEEP SCORE,NO CORROSPONDENCE WILL BE ENTERED INTO,AND I WILL KEEP ALL YOUR MONEY)POWDER WON IN A CANTER.IT WAS A BIT STRANGE THAT HE WOULDN’T LET ANYONE ELSE SEE THE CARD AFTER THE GAME NOR DID HE WANT TO PAY 2ND PLACE FOR THE 1ST TIME THIS YEAR.HE EVENTUALLY DID PAY 2ND & THE LUCKY FELLA WAS JAMES HOOPER WHO COLLECTED A MERE PITTANCE OF WHAT THE WINNER TOOK HOME.IF YOU WANT TO BEAT THE SCORER (GOOD LUCK WITH THAT)GET YOUR NAMES IN EARLY NEXT WEEK.

CORNER TO CORNER RESULTS 190709

Finally figured out why it was called cnr-cnr.I think it is because we had guys lined up from the corner of Howard street to the corner of Central avenue just to get his name in the lottery in the hope his marble will come out and he will get a berth in the very popular Sunday morning event. This week Syd could only fit in 352108 players in so this left a lot of guys downhearted but most stayed on to barrack for there favourite player.in the final the lead changed every bowl with the eventual winner being Geoff(Good on ya mom)Halliday and the runner up was Keith Stewart. Commiserations to the 352100 guys who didn’t make the final but there is always next week.
